Rounds two and
three of the Equipe"GTS
2008 season took us back to the ever popular British race circuit of
Snetterton, situated virtually next to the A11 trunk road
easily reached from London, only a few miles South of the splendid
and historic East Anglian city of Norwich.
Again, our hosts
at Snetterton were the Classic Sports Car Club who
traditionally organise a superb weekend's historic motorsport with
both classic car and vintage motorcycle races and this weekend's
festival of historic motor racing lived up to all expectation.
Again,
a full grid plus reserves turned up at a cold and wintery Snetterton
yet more newcomers were warmly welcomed. Ian Conway made is Equipe"GTS
debut in his recently aquired ex - Dr Rod Longton's very early MGB
along with Ian Bankhurst in another well known racing TVR Grantura Mk3.
The
domination of MGBs is becoming a mere memory as qualifying saw the
leading four cars made up of the TVR Granturas of Ian Bankhurst and
Rod Begbie and the Triumph TR4s of John Andon and with Neil Howe
taking the pole position slot. No less than 13 MGBs swamped
the next 16 grid slots down to 20th position.

--
Neil
Howe's superb car preparation and driver skill rewarded him with the
two wins from with a 12 second margin in race one, yet in race two
the close victory from the ever enthusiastic Rod Begbie was without
doubt the race of the weekend. Swapping places for most of the last
two laps, Neil Howe arrived first at the chequered flag by a mere
0.2 second.
Similar
dices throughout the field most notably between Jeremy Cottingham
and Stephen Radcliffe kept the onlookers entertained and with class
wins going to Clive Cocks WSM Austin Healey Sprite and Chris Dady in
his very rare and lovely Elva Courier Fastback Coupe.
